A very happy new year to everyone! With the beginning of a new calendar year, Grade 3 K students have started to think and are participating in active learning community within their classroom.
In UOI, we have started with our unit on 'Where We Are in Place and Time' focusing on 'Heritage'. Students brought artefacts from different places and shared about it along with their personal experiences which was enriching. Apart from that they also framed some questions to interview their parents, grand parents and relatives to find out about their childhood. The interview questions' responses were discussed in the new garden patch.
Talking about Maths, we did a recap of the concepts related to Addition and Subtraction operations, followed by an assessment. We also started with the operations of Multiplication and Division with a provocation using 'Jodo Cubes' as our resource. Students also tried to solve problem related to this concept to find out the varied strategies.
We read a book-'God's quiet things' and made connections with the year long unit on 'Ecosystems' and did a recap of the different components of the ecosystem followed by an assessment. We also had a guided reading session during the week where students got an opportunity to read with the teacher in a center, another being listening center- students got to hear the audio books, third center was about retelling the story read from their level books either through writing in their books or making a note of it in the iPad using the seesaw app.
Have a glimpse of our little learners through some of their pictures below.
