We, the students and teacher of Grade 3K are inquiring and researching about the 'Heritage of Hyderabad' which includes its Rulers in the past, food and clothing and the monuments of the city. Students presented their understanding using various means such as role play/ drama, paper and power point presentations. We also read, heard and enacted the poem called "The Bazaars of Hyderabad" by Sarojini Naidu. These inquiries are helping us to understand about Hyderabad's culture in the past and present and how the history has its influence on our city. Some of the students took action by inquiring and researching on their own about the heritage and presented it through pictures of places of their visits.
Ms. Anna our Grade 4 K teacher came as a Guest Speaker to share her 'Heritage Walk' with us in the classroom, where she gave us an insight of different aspects of what Heritage could mean to an individual. It was lovely to have her with us as we got to learn a lot of new things through her session.
In English, they selected an artifact of their choice (brought by Ms. Robin) and created a paper museum by reflecting on the details of the artifact and mentioned about its make and creatively described it. Ms. Robin read a story of "The Third Elephant" to an extent, post which the students were guided to predict the story for what would happen next. This helps students to build their critical thinking skills and helps them to enhance their creative writing too. We also started with our 'Author Study' on Dr. Seuss beginning with a treasure hunt activity on his books. Now, we are collaborating with the other section's students and teacher to have 'Literature Circle' activities on his books and reading them within groups.
Hope you enjoyed watching them learning and having fun simultaneously. Happy Commenting :)

In Maths, students have been introduced to the basic operations of multiplication and division. They are solving problems using varied strategies discussed in the classroom such as grouping, arrays, repeated addition and subtraction and so on. We are also looking at measurement of length as an integration with unit of inquiry focusing on different tools and unit of measurement for length ranging from millimeters to kilometers. Shapes and patterns are another aspect of integration with this unit where students are able to explore the shapes and patterns used in the architecture of our rich heritage city of Hyderabad.
