Few snippets of Grade 3 K's learning

In English, students have started learning about 'Report Writing'. After discussing the elements and the different types of reports, they worked in groups in order to inquire and understand it further. Students worked in different centres of writing, reading and listening and identified the elements of a report.

We also visited the GMR organic farm last week where students and teachers had the opportunity to know about the farming techniques and learn more about the interdependence of living organisms on each other. Students explored the farm and inquired by asking questions to the farmer which would help them in growing their own crops in the organic patch in the school.

Naisha took an action by researching about 'Ecosystems' and gave a presentation before the class members

Ms. Robin had a session with us on report writing. She guided us to make note of our observations from the field trip to the organic farm.

Students went to the organic patch on the campus to implement their learning about organic farming. They sowed seeds of tomatoes, spinach, bottle gourd, water melon and bitter gourd and watered them. 

Students went to different teachers to make them taste the okra curry which was made out of the organic farm's vegetable. They inquired about the difference between the ones that we buy from the market (grown using fertilizers and chemicals) and the organic one.

 

Students continue to learn more about place value of numbers and praticed the same through varied Maths games. They worked in centres and had fun while learning the same using a variety of resources/ manipulatives.

It was an exciting and engaging week for all of us. Looking forward for another thrilling week ahead :)

Grade 3 K Students in Action

Students of Grade 3 K had a good start in the classroom having 5 new friends from the previous year and recently we have added 1 more new friend to the class which makes it 19 in total. 

The beginning of the school year had been busy knowing each other and building the rapport along with learning and fun. We had nature walks, observation, designing of the classroom and inquiries and students were engaged constantly. Here are some snippets-

Students are recording their observations of the nature walks and are introduced to report writing in English.

Students created patterns using Rangometry in order to review and understand Maths concepts.

Similar learning engagement was conducted for parents on 'Meet the Teacher Day'.

The unit on Ecosystems started with nature walks and observations and continued with exploring about different biomes using pictures and toy animals. Students came up with the theme on 'Sharing the Planet' after this learning engagement.

Students are developing an organic patch/farm in the residential area on campus. Mr. Venkat, one of our senior school teachers guided us to work on it and students are having fun learning about organic farming.

On the way back from the organic farm, we observed the flowers and butterflies and their interdependence. Shriyan explained the process of pollination to his friends.
